How do I unlock a workspace?
Enter your security password on the unlock screen. If you don't have it, the recovery phrase is the only other way in — it's a one-time code generated when you registered, not a list of words, and it can't be reissued.

Unlocking the vault makes patients, exams, files, and templates readable
again. There are two ways to do it, both on the unlock screen
(/auth/unlock).
1. Security password#
Type your security password in the field and confirm. This is the default path: if your account has no credential registered yet, the same screen registers one on the spot, with no separate step.
If the password is wrong, the screen tells you so and lets you try again — it does not lock you out after one attempt, but repeated failed attempts are throttled.
2. Recovery phrase#
If you don't have the password at hand, click the link below the password field to switch to the recovery phrase instead, and enter the phrase you saved when you first set up your security password.
The recovery phrase is a system-generated code, not a memorable sentence or word list — treat it like you would a long password, saved somewhere durable (a password manager, printed and locked away), never memorized. It was shown to you only once, at that first setup, with an explicit confirmation that you'd saved it. It can't be shown again or reissued: see I lost my security password and recovery phrase for what that means if you don't have either credential anymore.
Unlocking with the recovery phrase works exactly like unlocking with the password — it reconstructs the same encryption key — but it also sends a security notification to the account, since it's the credential you use when the normal one is gone.
About security devices#
Registering a security device (a passkey) is a separate, account-level way to prove it's you — useful for signing in quickly and for electronic signature. It does not unlock the vault on its own: unlocking is still done with the password or the recovery phrase above. See Security devices for how that works.
