How do I share an exam with a patient by link?

Sharing a password-protected exam link isn't available from the interface yet. This article covers what the person who receives a link and password actually sees: a page asking for the Report ID and a password, which unlocks the report only on their own device.

Right now, diagnos doesn't have a button in the interface for creating a shareable, password-protected link to an exam. If you're looking for it, you won't find it yet — this is a known gap, not something you missed.

What does exist, and works today, is the page that opens when someone already has a link: a password-protected viewer at a /view address, meant for sharing one exam version with someone outside your workspace, like a patient.

They land on a page titled Access Report, with two fields:

  1. Report ID — a short code (letters and numbers), often pre-filled when they follow a direct link.
  2. Password — set by whoever created the link, sent separately (never in the same message as the ID).

Submitting checks both together. If either is wrong, the page shows one generic message — "Could not access this report. Check the ID and password." — on purpose: it never reveals whether the ID or the password was the problem.

Why there's no "forgot password" option#

The password isn't stored on diagnos's servers, not even as a hash. It only exists as something the recipient's own browser uses, locally, to unlock the report. That means:

  • Nobody at diagnos — not support, not the clinic's admin — can look it up or reset it.
  • If the password is lost, the only fix is for the clinic to issue a new link.
  • A link is meant to be temporary — closer to lending someone a key than publishing the report permanently.
